An exceptional pin/pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in vibrant 18kt yellow gold, this piece features an elaborate handmade Etruscan design. The pin/pendant is comprised of a fantastic 3-dimensional ram's head in profile, which curves around to form an open loop. Hanging from the center of the loop is a fabulous hanging urn ornament covered in beautiful Etruscan detail. The ram's head is complete with curling horns, delicate facial features, and textured fur at the crown and neck and covering the entire surface is incredible Etruscan bead and wirework, adding spectacular depth to the design. Resting at the top of the ram's head is a large fluted bail, perfect for adding it to a favorite chain, and resting at the back is a secure pin clasp. If desired, the bail or pin clasp could be permanently removed by a jeweler, if the wearer prefers to wear the piece singularly as just a pin or pendant. The exemplary craftsmanship is evident in this Victorian piece, which would make a stunning addition to any collection!

Measurements: The pin/pendant hangs approximately 2" long (including the bail). Excluding the bail, the round ram pendant is 1 3/4" tall, 1 1/4" wide, and measures approximately 1/2" at the thickest point. The pennyweight of the entire piece is 9.3dwt (14.5 grams).

Condition: The overall condition of the pin/pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or Etruscan wirework details, and the pin's clasp is secure and in excellent working condition. The bail at the top is securely attached. There is a slight indentation near the top of the urn and one line of missing Etruscan beadwork below it, however both are hardly noticeable when worn due to the ornate nature of the design. There is a natural patina on the surface of the gold in some areas, which gives a darkened antiqued look that is normal for a Victorian era piece, adding depth to the design.
