Artist: Lynn Latta
Materials: Porcelain, Sterling silver
Dimensions: 2.25" Included is a sterling silver convertible so it can be worn as a pendant
Artist Statement: The shapes and strong colors of the fabric. For some the whole flower is shown. For the Dot style the flower element was simplified.
The flowers were first carved and then different color layers of underglaze were applied.
The Silver was intentionally designed to support the shape of the form while providing a visual frame.
Artist Bio: Lynn grew up in the colorful and shifting urban landscape of Los Angeles, she was exposed to a wide variety of modern art and pop culture.
Lynn is interested in an exploration of materials and using them in unexpected ways.
This creates an intersection between porcelain and metal. A cross-pollination of techniques and methods that seek to highlight contemporary clay.
Fabric Motif: The sunflower is associated with sun, warmth, happiness and longevity. In northern Japan, a stunning sight is fields of yellow sunflowers that stretch as far as the eye can see.
